Let me show you what I came up with for a stack of three bird houses. You should put up bird houses in March so the birds that nest in April can find your nest boxes.

Copper works to save your plants from slugs
Просмотров 74221 день назад
Why does copper keep away slugs? It is simple. a slug is 99% liquid. The copper reacts with the moister of the slug. It is like a burn on your skin. Copper and slug chemically react to make a acid. Forget the salt shaker. You have to be careful with copper and living plants. An old timer told me over 50 years ago, "never use a copper tack or nail to hold up a sign on a live tree." You would thi...

Went on vacation and checked on the raised bed garden. The copper did work keeping the slugs away. Beer bath needed changed. The hoe-dag fell apart from years of service. (and may have been run over with the lawn mower.) So it was time to make a new one. Do you find them in the garden tool section at your store?

Have you checked your stove pipes for build-up? You wondered if the reason smoke was coming off the top of the stove when I light it up was from a clogged stove pipe. Well we looked, It smokes because the stove is cold. But only for a minute.

Raining here in Central ⛵ Lakes New Hamphire. We planted last week and things are growing. First run of hay. Love your raised beds! I will remember about the copper. Those bird houses are sweet! I have northern pine trees that don't shed needles but over the years they do leave on the ground some little nubby type depree and I mulch my garden with it and the slugs will not come within miles of it I think the little pointy nubbes on the needle hurt the slugs and will not craw across it! I don't know but I had slugs all over the garden and now I have not seen one! So if you can find something ruff and pointy I think it will work great I put it on thick maybe two inches thick throughout the whole little garden!

I have a roll of copper adhesive tape. I think it’s used in guitars or something. It’s like foil tape made of copper. I wonder if I made a tube around the base of each plant? Or, stick it to the side of big plastic tub itself to stop them climbing up?

    • @badbadbob1

If it does not have a coating on the face of the tape, It should work. There are so many things made from copper for outdoor projects. Even door kick plates. But they put a coating over the copper so it does not weather and get dark.
